A specialist Religious Education and Art Teacher - I retired a few years ago. Now I am an Entrepreneur. I have created a Programme called The Seven Steps to Happiness. It is all about Reducing Stress, Building Resilience and Increasing Happiness. Before Coronavirus came along I gave Workshops and Retreats from my home. Now I am moving my work online. I share resources on TES to support my wonderful Teacher-Colleagues. Most are free but I spend hours on these so I charge for some of them. Enjoy.

From HOD in Religious Education to giving my own Mindfulness-Meditation and Empowerment Workshops for resilience, improved mental health and happiness, in this little book, I am sharing something of the journey which has taken me from teaching RE in schools to offering an On line Seven Steps to Happiness Programme.
My approach to Health and Wellbeing is holistic, with special insight into balancing the mind, body and spirit - which comes from an awareness that we humans are spiritual beings. My workshops are tried and tested - this programme works - and
The spiritual side of life has always been important to me and I have been practising meditation for over 40 years. In this account I look back at how circumstances moved me from joyful and devoted Head of Religious Education in a large Secondary School, through a challenging time of unemployment as the Ebacc changed the educational landscape, through depression when during a period of deep questioning I received unexpected answers to my prayers - to becoming a Silk-Paint Artist, Pipe and Tabor Player - sharing the positive energy I receive in meditation, to developing increasing expertise in Health and Wellbeing - especially mental health, Resilience and Empowerment.
After retiring from teaching, I have developed a unique and comprehensive program ‘The Seven Steps to Happiness.’ My approach to bringing about transformation, focuses on Raising Consciousness. Low consciousness is when we are feeling f Here I am sharing free the first three chapters of a book I am just releasing. The full book is also available from my shop.
Before 2020 my Wellbeing and Empowerment Workshops were all face to face. I was about to expand into offering retreats abroad. Corona-virus has turned that on its head, forcing me to take my signature Program ‘The Seven Steps to Happiness’ on-line.
Everyone is suffering from stress - but my particular concern is to support and empower teachers in every way I can, so I dedicate this little book to you. By offering the first three chapters here free you will find some practical strategies and exercises for reducing stress as well as an introduction to my full On-line Seven Steps to Happiness Program - which as an 8-week course.
I am sharing the entire book as a paid resource and in it you will find my own philosophy and approach to dealing with stress. I worked on Supply for many years and saw more of the crazy side of classrooms than most, so I had to develop a strategy which worked.
Brene Brown taught me a good lesson when she shared her research which showed that the most compassionate people have Boundaries of Steel! Watch her You Tube interview with Russel Brand. That’s where she shares this insight. When do you find the time for yourself that you need? What are your own strategies for reducing stress and increasing happiness? How can I best support you through my resources here?
When we all share our experience everyone wins.

This is a ppt slide show which combines inspiring images and texts which share and celebrate the wisdom found in many different cultures and religions around the world.
Texts explore and reflect on many aspects of life and look for common threads in the teachings of many different religions. There is a focus on peace and overcoming conflict - as well as a celebration of the beauty and wonder of life and the universe.
thanks for comments. I will add the music I use if possible.
poem, with introduction composed in response to a year 10 contingent who were quite disaffected and atheist-exclusivist-closedmindedist. It was effective in engaging them with the God question.
the poem is quite powerful for anyone to read as a meditation and you can omit the central section which is an exploration of evil/suffering,
please give some reviews as this helps other readers find the resource.
There are references to useful sites and ideas here on the subject of Religion and The Environment.
I will add to this - but at present there are also resources that explore Global Warming, Eating meat or being Veggi, Buddhist Peace Gardens and more.
My Wish or Somebody Loves You would be great to use as a reflection exercise or starter in RE or pshe.
I will add other useful songs with video as I come across them. '
please share your own favourites and I will add them too.
send to any who care about RE and to your MP + others mentioned.
This is from a thread on the RE forum
Share this and related material about the consequences of the Ebacc in Staff Meetings and Assemblies,
Continuation of blog started in September 2011.
As a practising theist, who tries to respond to all the ups and downs of life from a spiritual perspective, I feel that my life experiences may be a useful resource.
Some have been kind enough to encourage me with this. A few people tell me that they read it regularly, so for them and any other casual readers I continue.
The one on 29th and 30th includes 2 photos of the kitties aged 4 weeks
best wishes and love to all

Valentines Day today, but the first blog is just to catch up a bit. My computer is ill so I could only write on paper for a few days,
13th = background info about me and my hubbie, + when we went to Paris Disney last year to celebrate my mother-in-law's 90th birthday.
15th is mostly about Valentine's day, love and relationships in general - mostly me and my hubbie.
I was asked to prepare a Biography for something else - but I thought it might interest my blog-readers.
Sorry for blog-gaps. My laptop died and I have little access to a computer.
My subject specialism is Religious Education and I am sharing here an exercise which I find very useful when presenting students with information about a new subject. They work in groups of three. This is designed to improve listening skills and understanding.
The exercise is by no means only useful in an RE setting so I am sharing it with other subjects too.
I also include here two articles forwarded from some my business mentor emailed to me - one on listening and one on leadership. I hope you find them helpful.
Do give some feedback.
Creating a Faith-Friendly Learning Environment.
Event on 4th February for teachers and TA's in Primary, Secondary and FE - from any curriculum subjects and schools outside the Faith Sector.
Developing spaces for prayer and reflection in 'secular schools' - etc
lots of info and contact details for this conference.
RE empowers our students, offering an opportunity to understanding themselves. others, society and the world we live in. RE opens minds and gets our young people thinking more deeply. It helps to create a good ethos in the school - an ethos that welcomes and celebrates diversity rather than fearing it.
Good RE can also challenge the kind of attitude and behaviour which was exemplified in the riots and can lead to gangs and violence.
Support RE.
Take part in this conference!
This is not really part of the Meditation-Blog as that was something quite unique, to share my experiences in New York and my my daily meditation at the beautiful Meditation Garden I loved to visit every morning. But if there are any experiences here - back in England - which relate to issues which I mentioned or explored in that blog, I feel it is useful to share these as part of the 'appendix.' For now I feel inspired to continue to share my life in a small way here. The one about 13 - 15th relates to Remembrance Sunday.
With love and thanks for all your encouragement. DMC
An introduction to meditation with a great breathing exercise which helps de-stress and prepare for difficult encounters.
Very versatile - and a link to find out more
Give some feedback - then I can improve the resources and others can more easily find things that help.
I will try to add more exercises to this resource..
Hope it is helpful. Meditation certainly helps me. I've been learning since 1973 but am still a real beginner.
This is the calendar from different sources with some words of caution and information about Navaratri, often called DurgaPuja.
I will add to this resource when I get time and then prepare some similar overviews of festivals for the other religions.
This is in response to a request for information so my aim here is to offer enough to give the enquirer a start with Hinduism and then they can use it as a 'pattern to follow' when researching the other festivals.
more interesting and insightful articles with some of the comments from the related forums - I have chosen a fair variety of views to encourage debate.
The Anarchy News article was recommended by a friend!
Those articles which I find most useful I have marked with AA or AAA rating, In some articles I have highlighted sections that if I were preparing material for use in school I would include - and blue highlighting indicates particularly pertinent sections - but of course this is a personal reaction. By copying the material in an Unformatted style they will be easy for you to edit.
articles about the riots to prepare work for exploring the riots and issues / emotions including grief, alienation, fear and anger
opportunity to learn about, think, discuss and reflect in a supportive environment - but one which is able to explore and clarify right and wrong - to challenge and inform.
Includes articles from a range of sources to show the different 'spin' journalist give a story. It's easy to scapegoat, stereotype and blame, harder to listen to and to learn. All agree change is needed, but effective change must be rooted in reality. See more in linked resource.
start of something great - to share everyone's favourite quotes and poems, good for exploring issues and putting up around the RE classroom.
Some collections of my own favourites and bits from an RE thread on the subject of quotes.
133 quotes from wattsy85&'s fantastic collection. These are set out so you can print them onto A4 for laminating and display and saved as a pdf so they don&';t move around.
Do send me your own favourites to share.
I'll add more links later
Thanks. DMC
just the latest - sent yesterday. I typed out his letter replying to mine forwarded from my mP - and answer it point by point. It took most of the day and is a bit of a rant - but I hope sufficiently polite and accurate.
We need to keep the pressure up so if you want to use this as a bais for something please do.
All the best to everyone for a happy summer
